“Ron has intimate knowledge of the nature locations. The eagle was on the nest, the hatchlings not yet old enough to get to the top. Right then, Ron taught me how to set my camera so I did not blow out the white of the eagles head. How I wished I had known how to do this the day before, where I whited out my photo’s at Hubbard Glacier! …Rainbow Glacier tours was great. Hopefully we will get back to Alaska, as there is so much more to see. If we do, we will book another tour with Rainbow Glacier. Ron and Emily were great guides. I see from Ron’s bio that he teaches photography, I would love to be in one of his classes.”

“Tom was our guide. The weather was wet and our lack of knowledge surely must have challenged Tom’s patience, but he was game and we had a great day! By getting away from the tourist stuff in Skagway and going via ferry to Haines we not only saw beautiful Alaska country but we also got a glimpse of how people really live in Alaska. We had a wonderful day! Thanks Tom!”

“The best part was seeing so many bears up close, without even getting out of the car. There was a mother and three cubs that gave us a lot of entertainment. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was easily able to answer all our questions and give us so much information… We would highly recommend this tour, well worth the money.”

“Our cruise and land tour of Alaska was filled with stunning vistas, gorgeous scenery, outstanding experiences, and memorable people, – and this one encapsulated all of the above. Tom Ganner, our guide, was terrific. I am a new photographer, and I feel so lucky I got to go on an excursion where I spent 6 hours in a small group of 6, guided to perfect spot after perfect spot, by a great and patient teacher who not only pointed out new and interesting ways of looking at things, but also took the time to help me understand my new camera”

“We went on an evening bear tour. It was great! This was a private tour in a minivan – the four of us (2 adults, a 6 year old, and a 2 year old) with our guide, Jen. The guide lives locally and was great! We really enjoyed hearing about what it is like to live in Alaska and her life there. She even took us to see her house that she has built, that was like no other we’ve seen – like something out of a fairytale.”

“My wife and I took a Haines Photo Tour, run by Rainbow Glacier Adventures with Tom Ganner. Tom meet us as we got off one of the Holland America ships, and I will have to say it was the best guided trip I have every taken. He listen to the client and stopped if we asked. I got shots of Eagles that I was not expecting. The use of his tripod and the grip that came along with it allowed me to get clean shots. I went on several other photo excursions and the guide either did not have a understanding of photography as Tom did or were more interested in getting us to the point we could buy cheap souvenirs. Tom looked out for our safety with the bears we photographed and suggest better shooting vantage points to get the best shots. I would take this trip again.”

“Carolyn met us at the pier and was our personal guide that spent the time sharing her love of Haines and the bears we saw from start to finish!…A town regular, one sow and her three cubs delighted us all morning fishing and feasting on the salmon. Turning to wrestling matches and romping along the shore line of the river…So, enjoy a wonderful time with Rainbow Glacier Adventures and take back some great photos of the ‘Jewels of Haines.'”

“Joe’s knowledge and experience were extremely useful to us during our time filming at the Chilkat & Chilkoot rivers. He went out of his way to contribute to the production in every way possible including, finding and scouting the best wildlife locations, briefing the team and presenter with his extensive knowledge of the local wildlife, helping with scripting, logistics and equipment hire. He was an extremely engaging and informative guide both on and off screen and I would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone visiting or filming in the Haines area.”

“What a wonderful experience. This was an amazing tip. Tom helped me work through my new camera settings, he was very patient and knowledgeable…We had two of us on the tour and we took fantastic pictures of a mama bear and her cubs, bald eagles, local wildlife, waterfalls and glaciers. It was a terrific tour, it really was the highlight of my vacation… Thank you guys for the caring professionalism and the patience with us amateurs. Your caring guidance and knowledge of the area and wildlife really shows. True professionals. If anyone gets to Skagway and has the opportunity to go on the Photo Excursion all I can say is GO, you won’t ever forget it!”

“Haines is just beautiful, and spending time watching a mother bear with her two cubs catching salmon was the highlight of our trip. Thanks to Rainbow Glacier Adventures who made this possible.”

“The trip was so personal that my wife and I were the only cruisers there. Our guide is a real Alaskan, building her own home in the woods, living off the land. We rowed along Chilkoot Lake, seeing salmon, bears and eagles along the shore, even saw a momma bear and her 2 cubs walking along the road a few feet from our van. The hike was further down the coast along the river. Jen was a knowledgeable and congenial woman who answered all our questions and gave us a colorful history of the area. I would recommend their tours over any of the cruiseline mass market ones in a second.”

“Both Joe and Tom said no guarantees on bear sightings, but boy did they deliver. There’s a couple mothers and their cubs that hang out on the Chilkoot River that put on quite a show for us. Munching salmon. Flopping about in the water. Truly unforgettable viewing. We were no more than 30 feet or so from one of the mothers at one point… If bear-chasing and scenery are your thing, then Joe’s a great resource for the area.”
