Via Tripadvisor… where we are consistently rated the #1 tour company in Haines!

We did this with a group from our cruise. Had Dave as a guide. He knew more about eagles than anyone we’ve met in Alaska so far. And funny! The owner of this company has written a photo book about the nearby eagle preserve, and can answer any questions you ever had about eagles.

We had to push ourselves off of gravel bars twice, but everyone in our raft loved it! We were part of the adventure. Wear waterproof knee high boots.

Photographers be ready. Dave let us sit in “the bowl” near the end of our trip. He does a 360 degree spin which you can capture on video.

“We took the white pass summit and Yukon Suspension bridge tour with our family of 4 in July. Rachel was our tour guide and she was fantastic! She knew a lot of the history, was able to point out spots of interest, informed us about the local scenery and wildlife and was extremely engaging! Our 12 and 14 year olds loved it, and we highly recommend Rachel for anybody looking to make their way up the Yukon trail, not on the train. Did I mention the incredible scenery? Glaciers! Waterfalls! Alpine meadows! Rushing rivers! Majestic mountains! All worth every penny, thanks Rachel!”

“We had an amazing tour with Rainbow Glacier and our guide Jen from the port in Haines. She was fun and down t earth and entertained us with her Alaska facts and tales. Our tour took us along the Chilkoot River and lake and we respectfully observed the wildlife. We saw a mama bear (speedy) and her 3 cubs along the river, many eagle nests and eaglets, learned how the salmon spawn and are counted and about some natural healing!
Lunch was included and we had a picnic along the water, saw the amazing Rainbow Glacier and the last Cannery in Haines. I highly recommend supporting the local business and taking the rainbow glacier tour with Jen!”

We were so impressed with our guide, Kim Clune, on this incredible tour of Haines, even in the rain! Kim was so helpful and gave us so much great information about the area and wonderful tips on how to capture it on our cameras! My favorite part of the tour was our stop at Chilkoot Lake. I was so pleased with the photos I took, even on my iPhone, of this beautiful place! Thanks so much, Kim, for helping to make our tour of Alaska so incredible!

“Another fantastic trip with Joe’s outfit, Rainbow Glacier Adventurers. We started on the ferry ride, the fjord is as beautiful as we remember. Byrne picked us up and dropped us with our float guides, Steve and James who were not only experts on the area but a pleasure to be with for all- and there were 15 of us, 8-70yrs old. Ended with a flight with Paul, who keeps an immaculate Beaver and is clearly an experienced and capable pilot- he showed us the most beautiful scenery one could imagine, answered all of our questions, peppered us with interesting facts and even found mountain goats, bears and a moose!”

Overall wonderful trip. Only real disappointment was entirely my mistake, I was not particularly interested in floating through the eagle preserve and my first priority was to see brown bears as close as we could as this is probably my moms only trip to AK…but I misunderstood the itinerary so that’s entirely on me. Huge disappointment but everyone in our group had a wonderful experience.

Rainbow gets my business every time for future trips.

“The best part was seeing so many bears up close, without even getting out of the car. There was a mother and three cubs that gave us a lot of entertainment. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was easily able to answer all our questions and give us so much information… We would highly recommend this tour, well worth the money.”

“We went on an evening bear tour. It was great! This was a private tour in a minivan – the four of us (2 adults, a 6 year old, and a 2 year old) with our guide, Jen. The guide lives locally and was great! We really enjoyed hearing about what it is like to live in Alaska and her life there. She even took us to see her house that she has built, that was like no other we’ve seen – like something out of a fairytale.”

“Carolyn met us at the pier and was our personal guide that spent the time sharing her love of Haines and the bears we saw from start to finish!…A town regular, one sow and her three cubs delighted us all morning fishing and feasting on the salmon. Turning to wrestling matches and romping along the shore line of the river…So, enjoy a wonderful time with Rainbow Glacier Adventures and take back some great photos of the ‘Jewels of Haines.”

“Joe’s knowledge and experience were extremely useful to us during our time filming at the Chilkat & Chilkoot rivers. He went out of his way to contribute to the production in every way possible including, finding and scouting the best wildlife locations, briefing the team and presenter with his extensive knowledge of the local wildlife, helping with scripting, logistics and equipment hire. He was an extremely engaging and informative guide both on and off screen and I would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone visiting or filming in the Haines area.”

“Haines is just beautiful, and spending time watching a mother bear with her two cubs catching salmon was the highlight of our trip. Thanks to Rainbow Glacier Adventures who made this possible.”

Photographer extraordinary! Dena is one of the best photographers I have spent time with. She is extremely knowledgeable and patient and even though I have been doing photography for many years she was able to keep me fully engaged. No matter what level of photography you are at she will help you gain more confidence. She is also a wonderful guide taking you from viewing wildflowers to beautiful landscapes. The ferry ride is a bit long (45 minutes) but worth it.

“The trip was so personal that my wife and I were the only cruisers there. Our guide is a real Alaskan, building her own home in the woods, living off the land. We rowed along Chilkoot Lake, seeing salmon, bears and eagles along the shore, even saw a momma bear and her 2 cubs walking along the road a few feet from our van. The hike was further down the coast along the river. Jen was a knowledgeable and congenial woman who answered all our questions and gave us a colorful history of the area. I would recommend their tours over any of the cruiseline mass market ones in a second.”
