"My husband and I booked a private float trip through the Chilkat Eagle Preserve to get photos. We had a mishap the day before the trip which put out cameras under water. Joe Ordonez's, owner of Rainbow Glacier Adventures, daughter loaned up a camera to save at the trip. Our guide rearranged his schedule, changing our date to Saturday evening so we would have a camera. He also went to great efforts to get the raft onto gravel bars, positioning up for eagle photos. The entire family and staff were exceptionally accommodating to our needs."
"Best excursion during our 9 Day Alaskan Cruise. Katt was an exceptional tour guide. Her knowledge and passion made the 4 hours just fly by. We didn’t want it to end. Besides bald eagles, we saw a black bear enjoying a field of dandelions, a brown bear quite up close and personal (no need to get off the bus), and some mountain goats!"
"Great photo tour with Gil. Very informative and helpful with great stories. Gave good advice on composition and tips when taking our pictures. Took us to stunning landscape locations."
"Absolutely amazing, Joe knew all the tricks to escaping the crowds, making the absolute most out of our tour. Safe to say he was either Snow White or simply unbelievably good with his timing because every time he mentioned an animal it was almost by convenience that a wild bird or a black bear just “showed up”. 10/10 can’t recommend him enough, what… a… PRO!"
"We went out with Mikey for the Skagway Guided Photography Excursion. We went to several very scenic locations over a few hours, and Mikey was helpful in offering photography advice to his 11 customers. I had a great time!"
"The best part was seeing so many bears up close, without even getting out of the car. There was a mother and three cubs that gave us a lot of entertainment. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was easily able to answer all our questions and give us so much information... We would highly recommend this tour, well worth the money."
"WOW. I understand it's the luck of the draw with Wildlife, but we saw seals, numerous birds, whales and a juvenile grizzly! A humpback breached about 10' from our bow as we left the dock. Lydia ,our guide, was born and raised in Haines so she peppered the tours with little anecdotes. We we also able to watch local tribal members hand carve a totem replica for an upcoming ceremony. I highly recommend!"
"Nicole was an outstanding guide and was as excited as us to see a moose at close quarters! Gave us ample time to take photos and take in all the views. She even shared her own professional pics with us later by email. Lots of local knowledge- all in all, a great experience."
"Joe's knowledge and experience were extremely useful to us during our time filming at the Chilkat & Chilkoot rivers. He went out of his way to contribute to the production in every way possible including, finding and scouting the best wildlife locations, briefing the team and presenter with his extensive knowledge of the local wildlife, helping with scripting, logistics and equipment hire. He was an extremely engaging and informative guide both on and off screen and I would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone visiting or filming in the Haines area."

"Haines is just beautiful, and spending time watching a mother bear with her two cubs catching salmon was the highlight of our trip. Thanks to Rainbow Glacier Adventures who made this possible."
"My husband and I took the Hidden Gems tour on June 11, 2026. Our entire experience was absolutely amazing from start to finish! Our guide, Gil, was waiting for us when we stepped off the boat, so that was easy and there was no confusion. He was a really fabulous guide in every way. He is very knowledgeable about all the sites along our tour, as well as the history, and smaller facts, stories, and information that really added to our enjoyment. His knowledge of nature, animals, vegetation, etc. made us feel like we had a naturalist as our guide. The tour took us to places we would otherwise not have been able to see. We chose this tour after not being able to take the train tour because it was fully booked, and we are so glad it worked out that way. We received such a personal experience and Gil stopped at many points along the way so we could linger to enjoy the beauty and take photos, something we couldn’t have done on the train. Also, the shore excursions that we could sign up for through our cruise ship were very costly and yours was so affordable and worth every penny and more. Everything about our tour was spectacular, from the incredible beauty to Gil’s presentation as our guide! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Skagway. In fact, I recommended it to a travel agent that I met on the cruise and she took a photo of your business card."
"The trip was so personal that my wife and I were the only cruisers there. Our guide is a real Alaskan, building her own home in the woods, living off the land. We rowed along Chilkoot Lake, seeing salmon, bears and eagles along the shore, even saw a momma bear and her 2 cubs walking along the road a few feet from our van. The hike was further down the coast along the river. Jen was a knowledgeable and congenial woman who answered all our questions and gave us a colorful history of the area. I would recommend their tours over any of the cruise line mass market ones in a second."
